Bowlers strike out to raise vital funds for charity

Kind-hearted tenpin bowlers took to the lanes to support a special charity in a night of fun and action at Rollerbowl, Collier Row.
Members of the Sunday Doubles League, who are based at the centre, drew the curtain down on their season with a fund raising event for Ambition, Aspire, Achieve, based in Canning Town.
The night raised £610 for the charity through a scratch and handicap tournament of league bowlers and their families and friends.
The event was staged by the league with help from Rollerbowl at City Pavilion.

The scratch tournament winner for men was won by Paul Mitchell with Dean Kingston runner-up. Third place went to Steve Simmons. The scratch tournament for women was won by Lisa Sherer. Second place went to Kirsty Mitchell and third was Jane Kingston.
The handicap tournament winner for men was won by Garry Kingston. In second was Gary Wright. In third was Lee Phillips.
The handicap event for women was won by Kerry North. In second place was Nadine Simmons and third Georgia Tugwell.
The junior scratch tournament was won by Grace Kingston and the junior handicap tournament by Toby Kingston.
League secretary Colin Grainger said: “It was a great fun night and a magnificent effort by the bowlers. We would like to Rollerbowl management team and staff for their help in making the event possible. The donation will be of great help to AAA in their vital work with young people.”
The league has now raised just short of £16,500 for charities its 30 year history.
The players now take a well earned rest and return to league bowling in September.
