Richard House supports the launch of a new child bereavement project in Newham

RICHARDHOUSERichard House are a fantastic children’s hospice in Beckton, who have helped countless children over the year. They have recently launched a new child bereavement support programme.

 

Richard House Children’s Hospice in Beckton, East London, has hosted the launch of a new bereavement support programme for Newham by Child Bereavement UK.

The event took place at Richard House on and gave guests the chance to visit London’s oldest hospice and find out more about Child Bereavement UK’s Department of Health funded Regional Development Project, which aims to improve bereavement services for children, young people and families in some of the most deprived areas of England.

Child Bereavement UK will join with local bereavement groups, schools, hospitals and public bodies including Richard House Children’s Hospice to raise awareness about existing services and to help signpost families to their nearest support group.

Shirley Potts, Director of Regional Development for Child Bereavement UK said: “We are so grateful to Richard House for launching this project and helping us to raise awareness of bereavement issues across Newham.”

Rachel Power, director of human resources and engagement at Richard House, said: “It was great to be able to host the launch of Child Bereavement UK’s fantastic work in the borough, and this will be of huge benefit to our families.

“Richard House already provides much needed support to its families when faced with the loss of a child; this partnership will only strengthen our existing work.”

300 families use Richard House Children’s Hospice. These families from across London, Essex and the Home Counties are supporting children and young people with life-limiting, life-threatening and complex healthcare needs.
