Ten-pin bowlers strike out for Newham charity

KINDHEARTED tenpin bowlers struck out for charity in a special tournament last night.
The Sunday Trios League and their friends and family held the event at Rollerbowl at the City Pavilion in Collier Row, Romford, to raise money for Ambition, Aspire, Achieve based at the Terence Brown Arc In The Park in Canning Town.
It’s the fourth year they have raised funds for the charity’s work with disabled and disadvantaged young people, and they beat the previous record of £500 by raising £650.
The male scratch competiton was won by Bobby Mitchell, with Paul Mitchell in second and Dean Kingston third.
The female scratch competition was won by Lisa Sherer, with Rebecca Martin second and Jane Kingston third.
The male handicap competition was won by Gary Wright, with Fred Williams runner-up and Colin Grainger in third.
The female scratch competition was won by the league’s youngest bowler Georgia Tugwell, with Jeanette Mitchell second and Samantha Halls third.
League secretary Colin Grainger said: “I’d like to thank all the bowlers and City Pavilion for their efforts, it was a lovely evening.”
The league has raised over £15,000 for five charities over the last 25 years.
