The Community Links Christmas Toy Appeal is now up and running.
But we need to get as many gifts as possible as quickly as we can.
You can drop off toys to a number of drop-off points that have been set up to make it easier to give for the appeal run by Links and the Newham Recorder.
There are a total of 19 locations across Newham where you can drop off your offering, however small, to improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young people in the borough.
With your help, no child in Newham will wake up to an empty stocking on Christmas morning. If you can’t get out to make your donation, toys can also be collected from your home. Call Community Links on 020 7473 2270 for collections.
If you feel a little out of your depth in choosing a toy that you think a young person would like, you can send a cheque, payable to Community Links, to: Christmas Toy Appeal, Community Links, 105 Barking Road, Canning Town, E16 4HQ.
This will be usedto purchase toys.

One of the most popular events is the Toy Appeal Quiz night – the night when great quiz brains battle it. This quiz is held on Thursday December 4 at Community Links at their headquarters in Barking Road, Canning Town.
The annual quiz is both a guaranteed brilliant night out with non-stop fun and excellent quizzing as well as helping to make a real difference at Christmas time for the areas most disadvantaged children.
The winning team will become the proud holders of the Maureen Allen Challenge Trophy. For the past three years Newham Blips have held the trophy – 2014 could be the year their hold is finally broken and a new team becomes our trophy holder. Why don’t you try and be that team?
The cost of a table is £75 for up to eight players. Every penny of the £75 goes directly to purchasing toys to help fill empty Christmas stockings on Christmas Eve for all the children referred to Links.
As well as winning the much coveted trophy, each member of the winning team will receive a bottle of wine.
You are welcome to bring your own drinks and food. There will be a fundraising raffle on the night also. Doors open at 7pm and the first question will be at 7.30pm. Please contact Links directly.
